Fragments of Time – Archaeology of Color
(Fragments of Time – Archeology of Color)
In my work, I understand painting as a process of uncovering. Layer by layer, a surface emerges that bears traces of time, material, and movement. While painting, I cover areas, then uncover them again, allowing fragments to become visible – much like an archaeological excavation.
I'm particularly interested in how color can store memories. The warm copper and earth tones remind me of aged surfaces, of architecture, walls, or places that have evolved over a long period of time. Each layer remains as a subtle trace in the image.
The forms appear deliberately fragmentary. Some resemble windows, rooms, or found objects within the composition. They open up small visual spaces where past and present meet.
For me, this work is a quiet search for the hidden stories of color – for the traces that emerge during the painting process and live on in the picture.
